Her name is Alice Nettleingham, or Alice Teacake, and she once met a girl on a train who changed everything she knew and thought she loved. At the time, she was 25 and was a successful psychologist in the UK, but something was missing. The girl she met had just got back from India teaching English, and after 4 hours of non-stop talking, Alice got off the train and booked herself on a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course.
