She’s only in her early 20s and has already lived in Spain AND can almost fluently speak the language (not to mention that we’re super super jealous!) – here’s more about Emily Jones.
Where from: Shropshire, but I was born in Cheshire and moved around. I’m living in Lincoln now for university.
How old were you when you first left the country: I think my parents took me to Crete when I was 2.
How many countries travelled: I’ve been to 21 countries.
Favourite place/country: My favourite country will always be England, I love the green countryside, but my favourite city is Madrid.
Why? I loved living there and since a metro card for young people, which can get you anywhere within an hour of Madrid, is only 20 euros it’s a great place to explore. It’s not far to go horse riding in the mountains or visit a natural swimming pool in the woods, even just sitting drinking sangria and eating tapas in one of the barrios is a perfect day for me.
Next trip? I’m hopefully visiting Germany in the summer and after that I’m moving back to Spain, the south this time, to do a 7-month internship.
Bucket list? Going to Canada to see the bears is definitely on my bucket list, that and tasting the food in New Orleans.
What stops you from travelling? The only thing that ever stops me from travelling is not having money; even then I usually find a way, there’s always camping!
Best food you’ve eaten in another country? This is a hard one. The pizza in Italy was amazing and I love Spanish tapas, especially the garlic soup and roasted pig I had in Segovia, but my all time favourite would have to be in Greece. I went on a yacht trip around the island Skiathos and the captain of the boat cooked us this incredible lunch. There was bread, olives, pasta, fresh mussels, fresh greek salad and lots of wine, I was eating the food sat on a boat in the bluest ocean I’ve seen so that might be swaying my judgement a tad.
No. 1 road-trip song? At the moment it would have to be Ed Sheeran, Castle on the Hill.
