She’s a business psychologist by day and storyteller by night, blogging at The Inspirational Highway – here’s more about Samm.
Where from: Hull.
How old were you when you first left the country: I was 16 when I first went without my family.
How many countries travelled: Between myself and the Carnivore (hubby) we’ve been to over 40 countries.
Favourite place/country: That’s a hard one. I think Sri Lanka was the total package though.
Why? I love the food, culture, animals, lovely people and it’s quite undiscovered.
Next trip? Bruges and Seville but not sure where the next biggie is going to be yet!
Bucket list? I definitely have a book-it list but my top item of a safari was achieved a couple of years ago in South Africa and western horse back riding in Canada recently. I need to add some new things…
What stops you from travelling? I think if you want to travel you’ve just got to go for it. I’ve been travelling solo since I was 17, even if it was just hopping on a train and visiting friends in the UK. I’ve managed to travel inbetween working full-time and other life events but of course, with more money it would be easier.
However, my brother managed 4 days in Iceland with £20 on his return journey from an around the world trip, basically offering his handy man services in return for bed and board, and getting lifts from locals. So that’s the tale I tell now when people say money is an obstacle.
Best food you’ve eaten in another country? Has to be anything from the Asian countries I’ve visited, so Sri Lanka, Thailand, and India!
No. 1 road-trip song? Don’t Stop Believing by Journey – I need air grabbing music when I’m on a road trip.
Why did you start your blog? I love to write, tell stories and journal what has happened. I wanted a creative outlet to share with friends and over 6 years it’s grown organically.
