“I did have a crazy travel experience once. My work place asked me on a Friday, if I was able to go to Brunei (basically in Malaysia) on Sunday.
I said yes, of course. So I had to prepare to go there on my own in 2 to 3 days. First of all, it was the first time I was going to travel entirely on my own. Secondly, it was the first time I had been outside of Europe (except for Turkey 14 years ago).
It took me roughly 24 hours to get there. I clocked in six hours of sleep, then spent a few more hours in Brunei finishing my task before having a trip arranged to a cave in the middle of nowhere in Malaysia.
The cave was huge with bats everywhere and the ground was covered in their faeces so it had a very distinct smell. After a tour around the cave with a personal guide, I was taken directly to the local airport in order to take the 24 hour flight back home with my shoes still covered in bat shit.
In total, I traveled for 48 hours, stayed there for 24 hours and since I can never get comfortable in a flight seat, I only got the six hours of sleep during those three days. Which, by the way, meant that I beat my own personal best by staying awake for 46 hours without sleep. That was a crazy trip in many ways.”
