Camp Rock Expectations VS Actual Camp Reality

Everyone who grew up with classic Disney channel – and I don’t mean any of this Ant Farm stuff, I mean the OG’s – remembers Camp Rock. It really set the expectations I had of what a summer camp was like when I was younger, and some of them still remained. Here’s what happens when you think summer camp will be just like Camp Rock.

f

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
Lots of singing and to hate it.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
LOTS of singing and you LOVE it.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
Everyone would spontaneously burst into song every day and perform a massive musical number.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
People did burst out into song, but it was planned.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
You would have the best summer romance ever in the history of summer romances and spend the summer being cute and in love.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
Nooooope. What even is romance?

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
There’d be a massive diva.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
No divas, just a big snitch.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
There’d be a massive rivalry between some counsellors.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
Everyone was one big happy family and you love each other.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
You would get a tan.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
Nope.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
The cabins would be big and glam.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
Nope, tiny and basic.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
You’d be forced into singing camp songs around a campfire.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
You willingly sing camp songs around a campfire and s’mores are the best thing since sliced bread.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
You’d go and reinvent yourself. You’re clumsy, so what? No one here need ever know.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
Why do I even try.

CAMP ROCK EXPECTATION:
You’d have a great summer, meet some new people and have loads of great new experiences.

ACTUAL CAMP REALITY:
You don’t want to leave, you don’t want to say goodbye to your new best friends and you want to come back and start summer all over again.

What camp expectations did you have, and how did they compare to the reality?

I'm from Yorkshire in England so you can imagine I love drinking well-brewed tea. Lots of tea. I also love to travel and have adventures, while taking photos to capture the moment.
