She took a year in industy and is now completing her fourth and final year of uni – here’s a little more about Maria Robson.
Where from: Hull, England.
How old were you when you first left the country: From what I can remember I was about 4 years old when I first went abroad. We went to Majorca as a family. There may have been previous trips but I have no memory of them.
How many countries travelled: I think I have been to 6 different countries – not counting Scotland, Ireland and Wales – the main one being Spain. I have been to mainland Spain (all along the east coast), the Balearic islands (Majorca and Ibiza) and the canary islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria) all many times. But I’ve counted all these under the umbrella of Spain, if you want them counting separately, my total countries would be 10.
Favourite place/country: America. I went to Orlando and it was definitely an amazing experience. But my favourite place overall would have to be Tenerife. I’ve been 4 times and not once have I been disappointed.
Why? The scenery is lovely, they keep the paths very clean and the amount of greenery and flower gardens around are beautiful. The weather is gorgeous. And our favourite beach there is so tranquil and relaxing.
Next trip? I’m going to Amsterdam, Netherlands in February with the maths society at my uni.
Bucket list? I don’t have a specific bucket list but there are places I want to visit including other parts of America, Canada, Australia and most of Europe.
What stops you from travelling? I like travelling abroad with someone so that’s the main thing that stops me.
Best food you’ve eaten in another country? I was at a hotel in Lanzarote and their food was incredible. Best pulled pork I’ve ever tasted and they had a chocolate souffle which was heavenly, nothing here in England beats it.
No. 1 road-trip song? I don’t really have one, I have a large mix of songs on my phone which I listen to whenever I travel. If I had to narrow it down, I would have to say anything by Madonna!
